The macedonian inline hockey national team won it’s first game ever, in the fifth tournament they participate. June 22nd, 2016 will be remembered in Macedonia hockey history with the win over Bulgaria with the final result 11:5.
The Macedonian inline hockey national team, in the fifth World Cup qualification, achieved its first victory, after Bulgaria was defeated in Steindorf (Austria) with a score of 11-5 (3-0, 4-3, 3-0, 1-2). Our national team players played an excellent match, dominating from the beginning until the end of the match, and at the end they celebrated deservedly and more than convincingly.
Jure Vnuk’s team started the game well, and through Dimitri Prokuin we took a 1-0 lead in the 4th minute, and by the end of the first quarter we scored two more goals through a counter attack for a 3-0 advantage. The furious game of the “armored players” continued in the second quarter, so we took a +5 (6-1) lead to leave at halftime with a score of 7-2.
The start of the second half again belonged to Macedonia, after we won the third quarter with a score of 3-0, for the lead they saw the last period of +7 (10-3). The last part was just a routine, so in the end we celebrated convincingly with a score of 11-5.
Already tomorrow, Macedonia will play the second match, which is crucial for the first place in the group and a chance for a place at the WC in Bratislava, against the selection of the host Austria. We will round off the group stage of the qualifiers with the match against Serbia on June 24.
